He\u00a0started as a photojournalist in 1978, travelling the world for numerous publications and works today on long term projects using different kinds of media frames, such as outdoor campaigns on public billboards or film. His documentary film War without Images he produced together with Mohammed Soudani was first screened at the Locarno filmfestival in 2002. He has exhibited widely in Switzerland and France, as well as in New York, Algiers, Hong Kong and Beirut. His photographs are in the permanent collections of the Swiss Foundation for Photography, Winterthur, Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Elys\u00e9e, Lausanne, Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale, Paris and several other major European collections. His work appeared in many books, such as Sudan, a forgotten war (Benteli 1995), Naked in Paradise (Dewi Lewis 1996), Inside Algeria (Aperture 1998) and Cocainelove (Benteli 2005) or Eye on Africa (2009). Michael von Graffenried was given the title of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres of the French L\u00e9gion d\u2019Honneur in 2006 and the Dr. Erich Salomon Prize of the German Society of Photography 2010. En 2002, le film documentaire Guerre sans images \u2013 Alg\u00e9rie, je sais que tu sais, co-r\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec Mohammed Soudani, a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 au Festival du Film de Locarno. Ses images, expos\u00e9es dans des galeries et des mus\u00e9es en France et en Suisse, ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 New York, Alger, Hong Kong ou encore Beyrouth, font partie des fonds de la Biblioth\u00e8que nationale \u00e0 Paris, la Fondation Suisse pour la Photographie \u00e0 Winterthur et le Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Elys\u00e9e \u00e0 Lausanne. En 2006, Michael von Graffenried a re\u00e7u l\u2019insigne de Chevalier de l\u2019ordre des Arts et des Lettres fran\u00e7ais et le prix Erich Salomon 2010. Apr\u00e8s Ren\u00e9 Burri et Robert Frank il est le troisi\u00e8me Suisse qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9compens\u00e9 pas la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 allemande de la Photographie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>D<\/strong><br \/>\nMichael von Graffenried wurde 1957 in Bern geboren. Aus dem Fotojournalismus kommend, arbeitet er heute an Langzeitprojekten, die er medien\u00fcbergreifend pr\u00e4sentiert und oft auch im \u00f6ffentlichen Raum ausstellt. Sein zusammen mit Mohammed Soudani produzierter Dokumentarfilm Guerre sans images wurde 2002 am Filmfestival Locarno uraufgef\u00fchrt. Seine Bilder waren in Museums- und Galerieausstellungen sowohl in Frankreich und der Schweiz als auch in New York, Algier, Hong-kong und Beirut zu sehen und sind in zahlreichen Sammlungen vertreten, so in der Fotostiftung Schweiz (Schweizerische Stiftung f\u00fcr die Photographie) in Winterthur, im Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Elys\u00e9e in Lausanne oder in der Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale in Paris. Meist publiziert er die Ergebnisse seiner Projekte in Buchform, zum Beispiel Nackt im Paradies (1997), Algerien, der unheimliche Krieg (1998), Weltpanorama (1998), Cocainelove (2005) und Eye on Africa (2009). F\u00fcr seine Verdienste wurde Michael von Graffenried 2006 als Chevalier des Arts et Lettres in die franz\u00f6sische Ehrenlegion aufgenommen und erhielt den Erich Salomon Preis 2010.
